There are 419 tourist hotels in the major cities and tourist destinations of Korea. In Seoul there are 28 so called deluxe (including the 18 international standard hotels) and 69 standard facilities.

Hotels in Korea are available at different levels of price and amenity. They are classified by an official rating system according to size, service quality and conveniences into five groups : super deluxe (SDL), deluxe (DLX), first class, second class and third class.

Most hotels have restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, cocktail lounges, coffee shops, barber shops, beauty salons, meeting rooms and fitness clubs, and most guest rooms include private baths and heating and cooling systems.

Hotel Classifications

All registered hotels are classified into 5 grades. The grades are indicated by the number of Rose of Sharon flowers, the national flower of Korea.

Tax & Service Charge

      Tourist hotels charge a 10% VAT on rooms, meals, and other services, and include an additional 10% service charge on the final bill. Therefore, tipping is not required. Some hotels include breakfast in their room rates.
